March: Books Emancipated from My TBR Pile
What You are Looking for Is in the Library and Dear Writer, You Need to Quit
Books have always been a highly personal thing to me because they reach inside the mind and soul, teasing out new connections and feelings. Being an introvert, I haven’t often shared what I read. Starting today, that changes. So dear readers, I’ll share with you and hope that you’ll share what you read in return.
Expect a concise set of thoughts and experiences. Lengthy reviews never have been my thing.
My to be read list keeps getting longer and longer. I’m not a fast reader and usually end up going the audiobook route so I can listen while crafting or when I can’t sleep. So, I’m proud to say I finished two books this week.
Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with the authors or publishers. I’m just happily sharing books I enjoyed.
What You are Looking for Is in the Library
This gem by Michiko Aoyama is a slice of life short story collection about a handful of characters who find hope and a new perspective after visiting with the mysterious librarian, Sayuri Komachi. I enjoyed the peeks into Japanese culture and lives. What intrigued me most though, was the growing connections between the characters that highlighted just how important every day interactions can be.

Dear Writer, You Need to Quit
Author coach, Becca Syme packed the book so full with down to earth advice it’s bursting at the seams. She’ll challenge you to QTP (question the premise) behind your thinking and advice from others, to know yourself well enough to stop expecting to do impossible (does the constant push to write faster ring a bell here?), to stop comparing yourself to others, and much more.
Intuitively, I had the gist of several points she brings up. But I needed her advice for it to gel in my brain and the kick in the rear to remember to question the premise. I’m still unpacking everything in the book and what and how I want to apply her advice. But I have a starting point—looking at what small steps I can make to achieve my writing and author goals.

Does sharing what you read feel a bit like baring your soul, too?
As I sign off, I’ll remind you to…
Be the Difference. Be extraordinary.
All the best,
Amy
P.S. Need more urban fantasy and paranormal stories in your life? I’m eyeing several titles, myself…
