Happy birthday, Umeji Tatsuya! + July Update
Greetings!
How is your summer going? (Or your winter if you live in the southern hemisphere.) I’m trying to get outside every day. We’re also hurtling toward having two kids in college. (Though one will still be in town and live at home.) Lots of change happening in our household this year!
Happy Birthday, Tatsuya!
Today we celebrate the main character of Liminal Chronicles, Umeji Tatsuya! Nakamura and I whipped up a cake for the festivities. 🎂
Authorly News
This month I’m still doing “recovery” from the insane publishing, trip, and graduation year. So I’m taking things slow to explore a few aspects I’d not had time to in a long while—short stories and audio for previous ones.
Currently, I’m finishing up a short “sleep story” (where you read or listen to fall asleep) based on my train trip to Kyushu. I’d hoped to finish it before sending this, but it needs a tad more polish, so I’ll share in the next newsletter.
I’ve recorded audio for three stories: The Kyuunan Mystery, Duel of a Lifetime for Two Swordsmiths (part 1 and 2), and The Mountain with Eyes. Editing awaits for each of them. Alas, it’s not a fast thing. Thankfully, the stories are all short! I’ll share when the audio is available.
I’m also having fun with a bit of worldbuilding for World Anvil’s Summer Camp. So far I have articles for Reizei Wasuke (the tengu from The Mountain with Eyes) and the Nonogawa River Valley Float Festival and Race (based loosely on two real world festivals). Also I posted the Sumichou Freezone, but be warned it gives spoilers for book 2 and 3, so I’ll skip a description and just share the fun graphic for it.
Obligatory Ferret Picture
And where would we be without sharing a glimpse of the fuzzies? I found this adorable little house with scratching pad at Aldi and had to get it for my ferrets. They haven’t figured out the scratching pad part, but it’s a great stash spot for toys, especially the bacon scented squeaky bones!
As I sign off, I’ll remind you to…
Be the Difference. Be extraordinary.
All the best,
Amy
